The Blue Door (Experience And Review)

So recently we had the amazing experience of going to the Blue Door and it was absolutely amazing!

res_1565695727918

In case you were wondering why it’s called the Blue Door it’s because they have this adorable blue door!

res_1565811549734

They had this amazing retro vibe and had vinyl record everywhere which we totally adored. And the staff were so sweet they took us all around to see everything.

They also have a night club area where there’s a DJ booth and the most amazing and beautiful retro graffiti ever. It also had vinyl records stuck to it and all these amazing peoples names. I don’t know if you can tell through the picture but it was extremely detailed and so well done. We totally fell in love with it and I’m pretty sure this is my favourite picture of all time!

They also had this nice and cosy little VIP area that had such a cool look with the chains and lighting- it even had a TV in the corner in case you want to watch sports or something. We had some drinks but I forgot to take pictures unfortunately 😣

res_1565696259099Overall we had an incredible time- the service was great, the drinks were good and the vibe was insane- we love retro stuff so it was perfect for us! I would totally recommend checking it out!

4 Things To Never Comment On A Blog Post

The comments section is a really awesome and fun place however there are some unwritten rules that you might want to follow to get the best experience out of it:

1. Don’t Spam Others- The more you blog and the more your blog grows the more spammers you’ll get. Firstly there are the obvious spammers that have no purpose but to spam you. Then there are people who are trying to network in your comments section. They usually leave a vague comment like “great post check out my blog” or “Enjoyed this post check out my latest blog”. Then there are those who just straight up leave a link to their blog, they don’t even bother leaving a comment or pretending like they enjoyed your post. Don’t be any of these guys because I can guarantee you’ll lose more followers than actually gain through this. I usually go out of my way to avoid their blog and I know most bloggers hate these sort of comments and delete/block them.

2. Don’t Criticize Them- If you don’t have something nice to say than don’t say anything. If you have actual criticism that will help improve the blog or person behind the blog than feel free to comment but if you’re going to say something rude and obviously hurtful then keep it to yourself. Don’t like the post and just move on you don’t have to be mean for no reason to someone just trying to write.

3. Stop Trolling- Trolling is sad and pathetic and if you’re on someones blog just to be hurtful than you should really rethink your life.

4. Don’t Hit On People- I can’t believe I have to specify this but WordPress isn’t Tinder. People aren’t on here to meet someone they’re here to blog so don’t be a creep who hits on people in their comments section.

How To Get More Comments On Your Blog

When it comes to blogging you’ll hear a lot about follows and traffic especially if you’re trying to start blogging professionally or become an influencer. However, the comments section is an underrated yet very important part of blogging especially if you’re trying to blog professionally because a lot of clients will check out your comments section and see what readers have to say about your blog and how active your blog is. If you’re thinking of becoming an influencer a lot of sponsors will look at your comments section to see whether your following consists of real, organic followers. I recently wrote a post about the benefits of having an active comments section that you can check out here. Here are some ways to increase comments on your posts:

  1. Always reply- If you want to encourage people to comment more often on your posts make sure to reply. If you reply to the comments and even engage in conversation with them your readers will feel heard and appreciated which will keep them coming back to your blog.
  2. It’s a two way street- Like blogging, the comments section is a two way street. If you don’t take the time to read other peoples blog posts and leave comments they’re not going to either. If you want to increase your comments make sure you’re active and commenting on other people’s blog too.
  3. Tags- Using the right tags on your posts will help increase your follows and traffic which will automatically increase the amount of comments you receive.  By using the right tags I mean don’t over use tags- anything more than ten- because WordPress will assume you’re a spammer and hide your posts from the tags section and don’t use too few- anything less than five- because then you won’t reach your optimum number of views.
  4. Be polite/respectful- I think being polite and rational is always the way to go when it comes to commenting. Don’t freak out, don’t be rude for no reason and try to reply politely. This will show your reader that you take their opinion seriously and are ready to communicate which will encourage them to continue commenting.

Why The Comments Section Is Important

When it comes to blogging you’ll hear a lot about follows and traffic especially if you’re trying to start blogging professionally or become an influencer. However, the comments section is an underrated yet very important part of blogging especially if you’re trying to blog professionally because a lot of clients will check out your comments section and see what readers have to say about your blog and how active your blog is. If you’re thinking of becoming an influencer a lot of sponsors will look at your comments section to see whether your following consists of real, organic followers. Here are some more reasons your comments section should be one of your priorities:

It helps increase traffic- I’ve noticed a lot of times that if you take the time to reply to someones comments or have a conversation with them it encourages them to revisit your blog because they enjoyed the experiences. Encouraging conversation on your comments section is a great way to increase your traffic and grow your blog.

It helps increase your following- To a large number of bloggers increasing following is important and I get asked pretty often how to increase following. Engaging readers in the comments section and taking time to reply to comments is a great way to do this. If your reader feels heard and appreciated they are much more likely to follow your blog.

It helps give you feedback on your post- Even though you are happy with your post it is always good to get feedback about it from your readers and your comments section is perfect for this. If you’ve been blogging for a while you will notice what topics get more comments/interaction as well as which don’t. This will help you understand what readers enjoy on your blog and thus help you get more traffic.

It helps get you constructive criticism- Even though you are satisfied with your post/posts your readers may have positive criticism on how you could improve it and make it even better. This is the kind of criticism you should take in because it will help you improve your blog as well as your skills as a blogger which will consequently help you gain more traffic and following.

How To Write The Perfect First Blog Post

Once you’re done with your perfect About Me introductory page it’s on to the next one- your first blog post. It’s always a good idea to make it extra special so that your readers know what to expect from your blog. Here are some tips to take your first blog post from good to great:

Title- The title is probably the most important part of your post even though it’s such a small part of it. Not just for your first post but for all your posts you should really think about the title and try to use words that are likely to make the reader click on the post. Let’s be honest, no one will read a post with a boring title. Try to use something catchy or if you’re going for a more professional vibe posts with lists, how-to’s, or Do’s and Don’ts.

Topic- The topic you choose to write about for your first post is also important because it will let the reader know what to expect from your blog. If your blog is only going to have one niche/topic than I would strongly recommend writing your first post about that topic. If your blog has multiple niches than maybe you can write a little about each topic and tell the reader why you decided to write about these topics. Or pick your favourite and start out writing about that topic.

Introduction- The first paragraph is one of those paragraphs that will make or break your blog. If your first paragraph maintains the readers interest they are much more likely to continue with the post and return to your blog for more so make sure it’s precise, sums up the gist of the post and at the same time leaves the reader wanting more.

Be Honest- I know it’s tempting to be a people-pleaser especially in your first post but remember this is your blog and you deserve to share your honest opinion about whatever topic you are writing about. Your readers will actually end up appreciating your honesty and you’ll end up meeting people with similar opinions.

Conclusion- So this is another extremely important part of your blog. In fact, it’s probably the most important because after reading this the reader will decide whether to give it a like, leave a comment or follow your blog for more. If you can come up with a strong conclusion you will definitely increase your views, comments and followers. Make sure to sum up your post, make your stance on the topic clear and leave links to your social media pages/About Me post so that you can refer them back to your other work/pages.

Big News (The Good Kind!)

So recently as you know I reached 10k on lifesfinewhine and it had been my goal this year to reach 10k by the end of it so obviously I was super excited.

I also had another goal I had which I finally after four years achieved. I had been meaning to make my blog into my official website without the wordpress part in the link and I had decided that I would do it once I reach 10k. So lifesfinewhine is no longer lifesfinewhine.wordpress.com but rather lifesfinewhine.com. This is so huge for me and I think it’s definitely a step in the right direction.

Also I have some more good news- one of my amazing followers Fiskvik Antwi (go check out her blog like right now) has a little gift for you guys. As a nurse she obviously had to study really hard and realised that having a planner made a huge difference. And she is now giving away a 50 page planner on her blog to everyone for free- go check out her post at the end of which there’s a link to get the planner. As a student I know how important it is to plan yourself out and I’m sure it would be super useful for everyone! Click here to get the planner.

PS. If you’re planning on getting your own domain or doing anything else with WordPress here’s a link to a site with a bunch of coupons that will get you a discount! Click here to check it out.
