The Terrace At Number Three (Guest Post)
Old building set near cobbles
with Oak table and chairs
Copper kettle brewing on stove
placed nearby the stairs
Fruit from Nearby grocer
is cut up and cored
covered by pastry in pie bowl
and in the oven it is stored
Washboard and dolly-tub
on the front steps lies unhooked
ready for the washing
which has been overlooked
But soon its all clean,
shirts gleaming with pride
and sitting in sun
on pegs hanging outside
And as line is drying
oven’s cooking the pie
which will be ready for eating
as the clothes become dry
And the family here living,
today is having a guest.
so tablecloths covered,
with china that’s the best.

My that was great, an oldie
Took me back to when I was 4.
Rooms were damp, and mouldy,
The bathroom, the scullery floor.
Did as my mum and dad told me,
Not like the kids now, next-door.
Now as to this 21st century,
Certainly not like life was before,
But life is great, and I’ve plenty,
And find that nothing is a chore.
Albeit, I do things more gently,
Don’t rush about, not anymore.
Expressed myself succinctly.
Just now for me to you implore.
Keep on writing just as fervently,
Please, more and more encore!
Take care,
Mick ☮
