Six Word Story #27
Since May is Mental Health Awareness Month I thought I would spend this week sharing different types of posts that are about mental health awareness. This six word story is how I feel about my anxiety. For more posts on mental health click here.
Always taunting me from a distance.

Very interesting image. I think I mentioned this elsewhere – maybe here – but I’ve come to believe that a lot of stuff we perceive – emotional and otherwise – actually originates from beyond ourselves. I guess this is what you mean or imply by “a distance?”
When I go to a quiet, mid-week Mass it’s like a larger lens comes over me and I can really see all the sh** that has been vexing me, bringing me down, etc. That’s just my path for now, but I thought I’d share.
Thanks for bringing it up. I’ve been trying to raise awareness (as I see it) and increase alternative discourses on mental health for a long time! 🙂

Thank you so much and thanks for sharing your experience. I agree I think taking a step back really helps a lot when it comes to mental health.

Yeah I guess a bit of ‘seeing’ and a bit of thinking. Last night at a gathering I got a bit carried away and actually called someone by my own name when I mean to use their name! I took it as an indication to shut up and, as you say, step back. 🙂
PoojaG
Haha yeah I guess it was your brain telling you to step back a little.

I tend to go more with Carl Jung’s take on so-called “parapraxes” (Freudian slips) but who knows. Over time I usually find – or create – a holistic explanation. 🙂
“Unlike Freud, Jung believed that unintended slips don’t always refer back to the person making them. Parapraxes can point to an entire interactive situation among several or, perhaps, many people.”

Hmm that’s an interesting take on it.

Oh and talking about mental health I actually wrote a post on anxiety a while ago if you want to read it? Thanks! 😇 It’s definitely not as detailed and well-explained as yours, haha, but I did touch on the topic a little…

I have a Ph.D in cognitive narratology. It therefore worries me that so few people seem to understand what a story actually is. Otherwise, the notion of a 6-word story is totally fascinating. I have yet to read one. Sorry, folks.

I see it more as a poem. I understand where you are coming from, though!
bramblesminghearraidh
Sorry, I get a bit carried away sometimes😬
PoojaG
Haha I know it’s not actually a story but it’s easier to call it a “Six Word Story” then to call it a “Six Word Sentence That Will Turn Into A Story If You Use Your Imagination” 😜

Brilliant reply!😘
PoojaG
Lol thanks 😂

The image is a good representation. It’s sad that so many young people have anxiety these days.
Good luck, I hope you find some improvement in your condition!
Love,

Yeah it’s very sad but I’m glad more people are opening up about it and removing the stigma.
Kitty Jade
Yes, that’s true.
