    I Am Lost- Poetry

I am lost in the world of my thoughts Thinking of anything and nothing It’s a mess up there And I don’t know how to sort it out   People say I am very quiet They don’t understand the noise in my head It’s a storm clashing with ships It’s a hatching of an egg as the offspring peeps out   What is that voice? That talks to me in the chaos Where did it come from? Had it always been there?   I cease to exist in the real world I am lost In the world Of my thoughts This poem is mainly about what it feels like to…

Book Review: And Baby Makes Two

*Warning: Contains Spoilers* “Getting what you want is only the beginning.” I finally read And Baby Makes Two by Dyan Sheldon. This mildly light hearted yet extremely realistic and hard hitting books is one of my favorites. Dyan Sheldon has a way of connecting with her audience and really being able to describe a teenage mind and life. This book is about a fifteen year old girl, Lana, who makes some seriously bad decisions and ends up going through a much deserved hard time. Unlike most books to do with teenagers this isn’t a love story, it doesn’t make teenagers look like deep, misunderstood young adults and it isn’t afraid…

    The Pouring Rain

The rain pours outside As I look out of the window Of the abandoned building I once called home No one is here now To watch it with me To hold me When the thunder scares me No one shouts out That the dinner’s ready The dark grey clouds Look angry and alone They cry over us Letting the raindrops Soak us in pain The rain always makes me sad Because I no longer Have anyone to share it with And alone as always I draw the curtains And sit down to eat As the rain continues to pour outside I don’t know how to explain what this poem is…

    Devastation- Poetry

With words lapping like waves on the sand I don’t understand the fire in my heart It feels like a rows of buildings collapsing from the sky Like a puzzle made by a child And here I am standing in the mist of it all Wondering where it all went wrong   This urge to grip my flesh And pull it down in vain To lessen the burden of pain The shining stars turn to silver daggers Close the curtains I cannot bear it anymore   This feeling that budded so softly In the pits of my womb That turned into a mad, craving monster Tearing me apart Like the…

    Book Review: The Kite Runner

*Warning: Contains Spoilers* “And that’s the thing about who mean everything they say. They think everyone else does too.” The Kite Runner is Khaled Hosseini’s first book which was published in 2003. This book is why I went on to read A Thousand Splendid Suns and did a review for it that you can read here. I originally read this book quite a while back and remember being totally engrossed. I read it again as part of my English class for school and I loved it just as much as I had the first time I read it. This book is as emotionally gripping as all of Hosseini’s books are.…

    Coursework Drama

For my English Language and Literature exam I have to do some coursework. For the coursework we have to write an original piece which is then marked and graded. It’s actually really difficult and this year’s coursework is really stressing me out because for some reason I cannot think of a realistic situation involving a dilemma. I mean I’ve thought of some ideas but none sound particularly interesting or appealing to me. So, I decided to go back to the coursework I did last year because I thought that might be inspiration enough to give me a good idea (I was wrong). Last year my topic was dystopia and even…

    I Am Scared- Poetry

I am scared of what I’ll find Behind the closed doors I’ve been hidden from I am scared of the stories I’ve heard about the world I can’t stay ignorant anymore I have to go out there But I’m scared of what’s out there Inhumane is in itself an irony Mocking, teasing, suicide Abuse, rape, murder I’m scared I’ll be a victim If I stay out too late If I express myself I have been hidden behind the walls of shelter Of my father, of my brother But what of those Who are left naked in this world? I am scared Of what might happen to them This powerfully raw…

Book Review: A Thousand Splendid Suns

*Warning: Contains Spoilers* A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini is an incredible book about two women from different families and different backgrounds who are forced to suffer the same fate as a result of unfortunate events. These two women go on to form an extraordinary bond and fight for their freedom. Unlike Hosseini’s first book The Kite Runner this one focuses more on the lives of young women in Afghanistan. I originally read this book for my English class and absolutely loved it. Hosseini has a certain way of using characters to bring out emotions and create realistic situations. His books are always very honest and raw and discuss…

Back To School: The Stress Awakens

Okay so I’m just going to admit it, going back to school sucks. Honestly, I am excited to see my friends and I love the subjects I do but school can really be such a drag. First of all the waking up early part really sucks, then you have to do boring things like sit in class and listen and study. After such a long holiday it can really feel like a drag to have to go back to school so here are a few ways to make going back to school slightly less horrible: Be positive– I know this one sounds really cliché but sometimes having a positive attitude…
